Our Family
Our family has been working honey bees since the 1800’s. There have been bees buzzing in our family's collective lives for over 130 years. There were colonies of honey bees on our family's dairy farm in rural Quebec situated under Andrew's great-grandfather's cherry trees. There, too, Andrew’s grandmother and her sisters cooked snails and skinned rabbits. The rabbits and bees (and eventually the snails) followed the family to the United States, where decades later in Connecticut between calls at the firehouse, Andrew’s father, Norm, a lieutenant with the Norwalk Fire Department, would construct beehives in anticipation of the season to come. Present day, along with his father Norm and brother Michael and helping hands from other family members as needed, Andrew maintains beehives not only in Connecticut and New York states, but also in all five boroughs of New York City, including atop landmark buildings in Manhattan, the grounds of United Nations Headquarters, and the Queens County Farm Museum (which has tilled the same land since 1697.) Like any active beehive, Andrew's Honey is a family affair, currently with three generations working together to cobble out a living through various beekeeping endeavors. All to bring you quality products from a family of dedicated beekeepers.
